Bay Area Park

Another park in the area with something for everyone: ball fields, picnic areas, a dog park, the start of hike and bike trail, and the  put-in for a canoe-kayak trail.

Of course, I come here mainly for the paddling trail. This spot provides access to parts of the Texas coastal preserve and Clear Lake. And on top of that it has one of the best boat ramps in the area for kayaks and canoes. Seems like a couple of different rental companies put people in the water here with maps on how to get to the take-out. All goes pretty well as it's a pretty straight forward path to Clear Lake, and the area is marked pretty well. Of course it can be challenging for inexperienced paddlers if caught out in the wider areas when there is a wind blowing. But I really like this area because of the number of options on ways to go. I always put in and take out at the same location when I launch from this park.
